Help your village welcome travellers
VillageStay volunteers help rural families list their homes, add activities and look after their first guests — and earn a share of every booking they help create.
Frequently asked questions
What does a VillageStay volunteer do?
Volunteers help families in villages they know join VillageStay: they create the host account, add the homestay and activities with good photos, and support the family with their first guests. Volunteers can also offer paid tour guide services.
Do volunteers earn money?
Yes. You earn a commission on bookings at the homes you bring on board — 5% of the booking amount by default. If you also work as a tour guide, you set your own price per day.
Who can become a volunteer?
Anyone who knows a rural area well and wants to help families earn from tourism — students, teachers, local guides, self-help group members and community workers. You need a phone, an email address and a bank account or UPI ID for payouts.
How do I start?
Sign up as a volunteer and verify your email with the code we send. Then open your volunteer dashboard to onboard your first host and add their listings.
Is this a volunteer-travel programme for tourists?
No. VillageStay volunteers work in villages they already know, on their own schedule, and earn a share of the bookings they help create. If you want to travel and experience village life, browse our village homestays instead.
How do I track my earnings?
Your volunteer dashboard shows the hosts you onboarded, the bookings at their homes, your commission history, and a downloadable earnings report.
